Use from outside the University (only for individuals inside the University)

"gakunin" service / VPN connection / Individual account preparation

Electronic journals, electronic books, and databases that our University has made a subscription contract for cannot be used from outside the University in principle because these e-documents are certified with an IP address. However, with the use of the "gakunin" service below or a VPN connection, using an individual account that has been registered to connect to the campus network, the database can be used from places outside the University, such as your home or a business trip destination.

1. Use of the "gakunin" (Academic Access Management Federation) service

  • Depending on the publishers, there may be cases where access from outside the University is also permitted if you are logged in through "gakunin" (Academic Access Management Federation) service. The electronic materials at "gakunin" in the explanatory notes on electronic journals, electronic books, and databases are available for the "gakunin" service.
  • The "gakunin" service, unlike a VPN connection, does not require individuals to set any software on their computers. When logging in through "gakunin" service, you can search for a database, an electronic journal, or an electronic book in an environment similar to the on-campus environment.
  • Please log in to the service from the dedicated certified link for each electronic journal or database. For how to log in to the certified link of each website, please refer to following manuals.
