Use from outside the University (only for individuals inside the University)


"gakunin" service / VPN connection / Individual account preparation / Others

Electronic journals, electronic books, and databases that our University has made a subscription contract for cannot be used from outside the University in principle because these e-documents are certified with an IP address. However, with the use of the "gakunin" service below or a VPN connection, using an individual account that has been registered to connect to the campus network, the database can be used from places outside the University, such as your home or a business trip destination.

1. Use of the "gakunin" (Academic Access Management Federation) service

  • Depending on the publishers, there may be cases where access from outside the University is also permitted if you are logged in through "gakunin" (Academic Access Management Federation) service. The electronic materials at "gakunin" in the explanatory notes on electronic journals, electronic books, and databases are available for the "gakunin" service.
    When logging in through "gakunin" service, you can search for a database, an electronic journal, or an electronic book in an environment similar to the on-campus environment.
  • Please log in to the service from the dedicated certified link for each electronic journal or database. For how to log in to the certified link of each website, please refer to following manuals.

2. VPN connection

  • Depending on the publisher, there may be cases where access from outside the University is also permitted if you are logged in through VPN (Virtual Private Network) connections.
    The electronic materials at "vpn" in the explanatory notes on electronic journals, electronic books, and databases are available for the "vpn" service.
  • For VPN connections read the page on the use of the VPN connection service of Information and Media Center, please use with setting to your personal computer.

  • Please contact the Information and Media Center for more information on the software and the network involved in the VPN connection.
  • Please use in compliance with each publisher of Terms of Use, User Agreement or Terms and conditions etc.

3. Individual account preparation

Once you create a personal account for each database and electronic journal site from campus (agency IP in the authentication), you can use from off-campus to access these electronic materials. you can also use the useful functions such as the setting for e-mail alert and individual search history.

** SpringerLink **
  • In the case of SpringerLink , create a personal account at the site of Springer LINK from campus network, then you will be associated as a member of the organization automatically and be known as a user of the institution belongs. From off-campus ,you can access using this personal account.
  • Connect to SpringerLink on campus network--> click [Sign up / Log in] --> you can regist your personalized account.

** EBSCOhost eBook Collection : NetLibrary **
  • EBSCOhost eBook Collection , once you create a personal account on campus network, you may use from off-campus.
  • Connect to the NetLibrary on campus network--> click [Sign in] --> you can regist your personalized account.
    Please use by typing in the following manner.
    [Password] alphanumeric 6 or more characters
    [Email address] Enter the University's e-mail address
** Maruzen eBook Library **
  • In the case of Maruzen eBook Library, once you create a personal account on campus network, you may use from off-campus.
  • Connect from the campus network to Maruzen eBook Library, click the upper right corner of the [account].
    Please use by typing in the following manner.
    [Authentication ID (email address)] Please enter the University email address. (Domain name is limited to tut.ac.jp or tut.jp)
    Personal e-mail address, such as Yahoo! Mail and Gmail mobile phone is not available.
    [Your name] Input your first and last name
    You will receive a confirmation e-mail to registered e-mail address, please register by entering the authentication password from there.
    In the site of https://elib.maruzen.co.jp , you can accesse with authentication ID and password.
  • You will be available for 90 days. The extension of the expiration date is also possible.

  • MathSciNet can be used off-campus for 90 days by clicking the RemoteAccess logo on campus and setting up pairing.
